Austin Community College was awarded a Department of Education "Transition to Teaching" 2004 grant to assist with Bilingual & ESL certification of teachers. Known as the Consortium of Opportunities for Learners (COOL), Teacher Certification continues to provide models for curriculum, process, remediation, and leadership.

Our current partners are Austin Independent School District, Del Valle Independent School District, Texas Education Agency and the State Board for Educator Certification. This five-year commitment has allowed two cohorts to participate in tuition assistance and mentor/online support for three years. New bilingual participants (2007-2009) will have online support for three years.
