The Mentor completes the Recommendation Form and provides basic documentation of the intern's strengths and areas for continued development. Since the mentor has spent considerable time with the intern, this recommendation will assist program staff in reaching a consensus about the teacher's expertise in order to recommend that the intern be approved for Standard Certification at the end of the first year of teaching.

Other requirements such as coursework and TExES exam success are additional components of the recommendation.
