About the Program
This online course covers classroom management skills; acceptable disciplinary measures; special programs and legal requirements; professional ethics; handling emergencies and audio-visual equipment; positive and negative behaviors; and classroom survival skills.
Prerequisites
You must have a high school diploma or GED to participate. Check with your school district for substitute requirements.
This program is offered online using Blackboard® , ACC's online course management system. You must have an email address and internet access to participate. Prior to the beginning of class, you will be contacted by the instructor with additional information to access your course materials online.
Note: If you do not live within the Austin area, this course is available through the Virtual College of Texas VCT. Contact your local community college for access to this course.

EDTC 1002 Substitute Teacher Online (12 hrs/$140). Online introduction to the role of the substitute, student needs identification, behavior modification, and classroom management, school personnel relations. Although not a certification, this course assists the learner to understand and master the facets of successfully substituting in public schools in Texas. We must have your updated email address; instructor will contact you one week prior to the course.
