Syllabus -> Lesson Plan
In general, each lesson is composed of a set of learning tools, to be accessed and executed in order.
Lesson Units have the following General Unit Structure:
| Unit xx- Unit Title | ||
| 01- | General Description | Describes at a high level what will be covered in this unit. It is the lead-in to the material that follows. |
| 02- | Learning Objectives | Describes what students will be able to do at the end of the instruction. The objectives guide unit content, instructional strategies and activities, and assessment. |
| 03- | PreWork | Describes any pre-work to be done before beginning to read the lesson topic. Usually, the assigned readings are to be done before reading the lesson topic pages in BlackBoard. There may also be an additional assignment too, depending on the unit. |

Readings |
Usually by chapter in the main textbook, this is where the specific readings to be done are cited. |
|
03b |
Webwork |
If required before doing the lesson topic, this is where instructions for web surfing would be. Sometimes, these are "treasure hunts" to explore some websites and perhaps retrieve information for submission to the instructor as 'proof' you visited. Webwork assignments are expected to be done individually, without collaboration. |
|
03c |
Homework |
If required before doing the lesson topic, this is where instructions for an individual homework assignment would be. Homework assignments are expected to be done individually, without collaboration. |
|
03d |
Projectwork |
If required before doing the lesson topic, this is where instructions for a team-based group assignment would be. These usually relate to the cases in the textbook, and are intended to be in collaboration with others in your assigned project group. |
| 04- | Lesson Topic | This is the main part of the unit lesson. This section will be organized into major headings with the described content. It will follow the chapters in the main textbook fairly closely. |
| 05- | PostWork | Describes any post-work to be done after beginning to read the lesson topic. Usually, the assigned readings are to be done before reading the lesson topic pages in BlackBoard. |
|

Self-Quiz |
Weekly self-quizzes are provided for you to measure your own progress, and to help you determine areas where you need more study. These SELF-QUIZZES ARE NOT OPTIONAL (you must take them), but the SCORES ARE NOT COUNTED by me. The only thing that counts is that you took the quiz. It will be factored into your participation grade for the course. |

05b |
Discussion |
Describes asynchronous discussions in which students respond to posted questions. There are usually several questions posted to encourage thought and interaction with other students around the topics of the lesson. |
