Hi!
It's time to introduce myself: I'm Bob Futrell, instructor for BMGT 1023 IT Project Management at Austin Community College.
If you received this message, then you are registered in the class. This course is considered a beginner to intermediate class focused on information technology. If you are new to project management, then this course may be a challenge for you. But that's the best way to advance yourself - by handling challenges in a controlled (class) environment. Those of you with significant IT PM experience already are encouraged to share your experiences with the class.
As of today, you are authorized to enter the "classroom" and begin the course, where there is some bio information on me. To get the salutations straight right now though, I'm a "master" not a "philosopher" so the most formal greeting I'll tolerate is just plain "Bob". ACC will communicate with you about course registrations. You should have access to ACC's online courseware tool, BlackBoard (http://acconline.austincc.edu). There are simple first time login instructions on the home page that will allow you to get into the course materials. Just start reading at the beginning and follow the instructions. You should do just fine - BlackBoard is one of the easiest to master coureware tools around!
This format will be a little different for some of you, and may be a challenge. There may be some technical glitches along the way, so please bear with us.
If you haven't got them yet, hurry to obtain the textbooks for the course. The first unit week will go quickly. So, get started as soon as you can, to get the most out of the course. It is best to attack assignments early in the unit weeks rather than wait until nearer the closing deadlines.
If you haven't done so already, enter the course and read the Syllabus on the "course home" page. That will get you started. I've attached the syllabus for the course to this email with more information to help you get started. Proceed into Unit 1 "Intro".
Let me say that I am very happy you could join us for this class, offered online from Austin, TX. I have been teaching project management since 1993, doing dozens of programs both online and onsite for several universities. I still enjoy doing it!
Welcome Aboard!
Regards,
Bob Futrell
