CPMT 3045 PC Technician Series (188 hours)    
The PC Technician Series consists of the A+ Esentials - PC Technician, CPMT 2045, A+ Practical Applications - PC Technician CPMT 1072 and Network+ CPMT 1073. Enrolling in the series guarantees students a seat in all three courses and provides students with a discount off the cost of the individual courses. The series provides students with a solid foundation for employment as a PC technician, Help Desk Support and IT Customer Support and prepares students for the CompTIA examinations. CPMT 2045 A+ Essentials (80 hours)    
A+ Certification is a CompTIA-sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technicians. The program is backed by major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers and publications. A+ certification signifies that the certified individual possesses the knowledge and skills essential for a successful entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technician, as defined by experts from companies across the industry.
The A+ Essentials Training course at Austin Community College is a 80-hour program including lecture, labs, and exam preparation. The course will prepare students for the CompTIA A+ Essentials certification examination (2009 Objectives) – Exam 220-701
Prerequisite: A desire to learn.

CPMT 1072 A+ Practical Application (48 hours)    
A+ Certification is a CompTIA-sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technicians. Prerequisite: CPMT 2045 A+ Essentials PC Technician.

CPMT 1073 Network+ (60 hours)   
Network+ is a CompTIA vendor neutral certification that measures the technical knowledge of networking professionals. Earning the Network+ certification means that the candidate possesses the knowledge needed to configure and operate a variety of networking products. This exam covers a wide range of vendor and product neutral networking technologies that can also serve as a prerequisite for vendor-specific IT certifications. The Network+ training program at Austin Community College is a 60-hour program including lecture, labs, and exam preparation. The course will prepare students for the CompTIA Network+ certification examination (2009 Objectives) – Exam (N10 -4)
Prerequisite: A+ certification or equivalent knowledge.

ITNW 1054 Server+ (60 hours)    
Server+ certification is a standard of competency for mid- to upper-level technicians responsible for server hardware functionality. The Server+ certification credential validates advanced-level technical competency of server issues and technology, including installation, configuration, upgrading, maintenance, troubleshooting and disaster recovery. This certification is geared toward mid- to upper-level technicians. The Server+ training program at Austin Community College is a 60-hour program including lecture, labs, and exam preparation.
Prerequisite: A+ certification or equivalent knowledge.

ITSY 1076: Security+(40 hrs)
This course is targeted toward an Information Technology (IT) professional who has networking and administrative skills in Windows-based TCP/IP networks and familiarity with other operating systems, such as NetWare, Macintosh, UNIX/Linux, and OS/2, who wants to: further a career in IT by acquiring a foundational knowledge of security topics; prepare for the CompTIA Security+ Certification examination; or use Security+ as the foundation for advanced security certifications or career roles.
Prerequisites: MCSA or CompTIA A+ & Network+.

EECT 1007 Wireless# (60 hours)
The Wireless# (wireless sharp) certification is the entry-level wireless certification for the IT industry. The Wireless# certification will get students started in their IT career by providing a solid base of applicable knowledge of: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WiMAX , ZigBee Infrared, RFID and VoWLAN.
Prerequisite: Network+ or equivalent knowledge.

EECT 2031 CWNA (60 hours)    
The CWNA® (Certified Wireless Network Administrator) certification is a foundation level wireless LAN certification for the CWNP Program. The CWNA certification prepares students with the skills to successfully administer enterprise-class wireless LANs. Topics covered include: Radio Technologies, Antenna Concepts, Wireless LAN Hardware and Software, Network Design, Installation, and Management, Wireless Standards and Organizations 802.11 Network Architecture, Wireless LAN Security, Troubleshooting, Performance Tuning and How to Perform Site Surveys.
