Sampler Course

BMGT 1023 IT Project Management is a process-oriented project management course and is the foundation course to prepare for the PMI PMP® certification and is available both onsite and online. The combination of BMGT 1023 and BMGT 1040 is the most successful approach towards achieving the PMI PMP certification. BMGX 3005 Project Management Series (119 hours)
The Project Management Series consists of three courses: BMGT 1023 IT Project Management, BMGT 1040 PMP Exam Prep & ITSC 1018 MCTS Microsoft Project. The series provides all the hands-on skills training needed for students to become successful project managers. See individual course listings for class meeting days and times. • PMP Certification Preparation

BMGT 1023 IT Project Management (48 hours) [NOTE: Course is available both onsite & online. Links to Onsite class syllabus and Online class syllabus .]
This course is a process-oriented practical project management course emphasizing both knowledge and skill. IT Project Management builds on the Project Management Institute PMBOK® Guide to provide a solid framework and context for managing information technology projects. This course helps prepare students to earn and maintain Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM®) certifications from the Project Management Institute (PMI). This course is a lecture/lab (using Microsoft Project), has an IT emphasis and is taught by multiple instructors.

BMGT 1040 PMP® Exam Prep (35 hours)
This course is a PMBOK® -oriented exam review course, emphasizing PMBOK® knowledge only, structured around the 9 knowledge areas of the PMBOK®, and focused on exactly what is necessary to pass the exam. The course will start off with an overview of the PMP® Exam including how to apply, eligibility criteria, and scheduling the actual test. The class will then focus on definitions and formulas in addition to addressing all the processes and knowledge areas covered on the exam. Practice questions from each section and exam strategies will be covered as well. Considerable practice and preparation outside of the class is necessary to successfully pass the PMP® exam. This course is strictly PMI® examination preparation.

ITSC 1018 MCTS Microsoft Project (36 hours)
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to build, maintain, and control well-formed project plans. This is the first course in the Microsoft Office Project 2007 Official Curriculum series and serves as the entry point for other Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) courses covering Microsoft Office Project 2007 and the Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) 2007 Solution. ITSE 1041 Agile Project Leadership (42 hours)
Agile project leaders deliver high-impact business results by relying on self-organizing teams to plan, execute and innovate throughout the project lifecycle. Rather than plan, instruct, and direct, the agile project leader educates, coaches, and facilitates. Development of these critical skills and the process and tools that support the agile team is the focus of this course. Special emphasis on leadership development and enabling organizational change will be central to this certification course. Upon successful completion of this course, attendees will be prepared for Agile project leadership.

One of the elements of the Triple Constraint, Scope Management is crucial to maintaining satisfied project stakeholders. Establishing and controlling project scope is a key element for project completion and success. This course is designed to provide proven effective principles and processes for defining, controlling, and finalizing project scope with particular focus on WBS, the state of the art techniques involved with creating a WBS, and giving your company a competitive advantage. It is recommended to take Schedule Management and Cost Management in conjunction with Scope Management as part of the Triple Constraint Series.

BMGX 3015 Project Cost Management (7 hours)
One can manage anything that can be measured. One of the key elements of the Triple Constraint is Cost Management and it includes ‘Earned Value Management’ that is required to truly measure project performance on a regular basis. Budget constraints and allowances are key considerations when planning and managing projects. Having a true understanding of budget development, analysis and allocation largely affects the success of projects. This course imbues students with the wisdom and the specific skill sets needed for effective cost management with particular focus on Earned Value Management. It is recommended to take Schedule Management and Scope Management in conjunction with Cost Management as part of the Triple Constraint Series.
