Academic Testing Centers
Using the Testing Center

Austin Community College is pleased to provide testing services to ACC faculty and
students. In order to ensure test integrity and adequate space for testing, ACC has
established the following guidelines (also available for download here):

ACC Photo ID Required

Students are required to show an ACC Photo ID in order to test.

Written Permission From Instructor

Some tests also require written permission from your instructor. If your instructor allows you to test past the deadline you must bring written permission from the instructor.

Requesting a Test

Students are required to complete a Testing Agreement Form which contains the following student information: Synonym Number & Section Number, Course Abbreviation & Course Number, Test Number, and Instructor's Name.

Retesting

Retests may not be available in all courses. A Testing Agreement form is required for retesting. For paper tests, students are allowed to retest only once per test if a retest version is offered by the instructor.

Additional Testing Materials/Aids

Students should bring only the materials that an instructor has allowed for a given test. The Testing Centers provide the following items when approved by the instructor: English dictionaries (non-electronic), red or green scanforms, and all types of paper. Students may bring their own foreign language (non-electronic) dictionary if approved by the instructor.

Lockers

You are responsible for the return of your locker key to Testing Center staff. Your property will not be surrendered in the case of a lost key until a report is filed with Campus Police. The incident will be reported to Admissions & Registration Director and a hold will be placed on your record until the key is returned or replaced.

Assigned Seating/Wait Lines

The Testing Center may assign seating. When the Testing Center is full, you may be asked to sign a waiting list, take a ticket or line up outside the Center. Students are required to wait again in line, if one exists, if they desire to take more than one test.

Breaks During Testing

Students may not leave the Testing Center for breaks, to drink water, or go to the restroom except with a medical statement from a doctor. Medical statements must be on a doctor's letterhead/stationery or an Rx slip.

Scoring of Tests

The Testing Center can score an exam if an answer key is available. If this is the case, you will be given your raw score. Keep the yellow copy of the Testing Agreement form for the remainder of the semester as proof you took the exam. Once the test has been scored, it cannot be reviewed or examined again in the Testing Center. Contact your instructor for feedback information on the test items.

Student Conduct and Discipline

  1. Students who significantly interfere with or disrupt Testing Center operations are in violation of the Testing Center policy. They may be asked to leave the Testing Center and may be subject to disciplinary action.
  2. A student found to have unauthorized materials including food, drink, tobacco items, cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices will be in violation of the Testing Center policy. They will be asked to leave the Testing Center and may be subject to disciplinary action.
  3. The Testing Center will complete a Student Disciplinary Form and supporting evidence will be forwarded to the Dean of Student Services who will have ten days (from the date he/she meets with the student) to issue a decision in writing to the student, faculty member, and the Testing Center Supervisor.
  4. Students in violation of policies are subject to disciplinary action and may not use the Testing Center for that specific course for the remainder of the semester. Faculty is responsible for making other testing arrangements for these students.
