System/Application Programming Track

  

In the System/Application Programming Track, you specialize in such areas as web server installation and management, TCP/IP, Perl, JavaScript, Java, web databases, ASP, and more. In addition to these course listings, you may also want to see:

Webmaster students in the system/application programming track are required to take eight of the required classes, choose three of the electives listed here, and complete the Capstone Project.

Take the required courses:

  • Introduction to World Wide Web & XHTML
  • Intermediate World Wide Web Authoring & XHTML
  • Web Authoring: Using Cascading Style Sheets
  • Dreamweaver 1: Introduction

Choose any four of these programming courses as your required courses in this area (you can use the others as electives).

  • Introduction to Programming Languages - does not count towards the Webmaster certificate - recommended for non-programmers before taking any programming class.
  • Perl Programming for the Web
  • JavaScript Programming
  • AJAX
  • Java Programming: Part I
  • Java Programming: Part II
  • Java Programming: Part III
  • Web Applications with ASP.NET Part I
  • Web Applications with ASP.NET Part II
  • Web Applications with ASP.NET Part III
  • PHP

For electives in the system/application programming track, choose any of the following or take more programming courses. Check the recommended prerequisites in the course catalog. The courses are not offered each semester. Please check the schedule.

  • Dreamweaver 2: Advanced Web Design
  • Photoshop 1: Introduction
  • Photoshop 2: Advanced Web Design
  • Interface Design and Usability
  • HTML 5
  • CSS 3
  • Flash 1: Introduction
  • Flash 2: Object-Oriented Programming
  • Flash 3: Data Connectivy
