Warren Donworth Bio

Warren Donworth directs the Austin Community College program in Welding Inspection and Nondestructive Testing.  Having come from an inspection background, he established the first American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector preparatory course at ACC in 1985 and continues to teach it to this day.  He also instructs courses in applied welding and ultrasonics testing, as well as blueprint courses employing computers to design structural and piping connections.  He holds the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas, where he wrote the quantitative dissertation, “Comparison of Welding Technology Programs in Texas Community Colleges Employing Jerald Hage’s Axiomatic Theory of Organizations.”  However, he declined to pursue a career in administration, preferring instead to remain a classroom teacher, where this blue collar Ph.D. feels he has a more direct impact on students.  When asked what he finds most gratifying about teaching in the Welding Department, Dr. Donworth replied unhesitatingly, “Launching careers.”
