The following workshops are presented by the Developmental Writing Department and are open to all ACC students. Workshop attendees will receive proof of attendance to submit to instructors who may offer extra credit. During the week of March 22, the workshop will focus on preparing students for the Developmental Writing Exit Exam. An additional review session is scheduled in May for students needing to take the Developmental Writing Exit Exam on May 7.

In this workshop, you’ll learn a set of tools for developing ideas for any assignment, whether it be a scholarship essay, an in-class assignment, or a cover letter for a job. Those who attend the January 25 Goal Setting and Study Strategies workshop are invited to return and share experiences. Specifically, we値l talk about obstacles that may have come up during the course of the semester and ways to deal with those obstacles. Finally, we値l revisit the goals set early in the semester and develop a plan to be sure those goals are met by the end of the semester. Defeating Procrastination: Time Management for Writers
Sometimes it seems the last minute is always the best time to work on a writing project. But, with procrastination comes a lot of unnecessary anxiety. If you are a procrastinator who wants to learn ways to settle in and get started on the work ahead, this is the workshop for you. After identifying common reasons for procrastination, we will introduce time management tools that will help get you started on projects sooner.

Comma Usage
You may have heard that when you hear a pause in a sentence, you should put a comma there. That can be confusing, right? Don’t worry. In this workshop, we’ll set you straight on the rules of comma usage by giving you eight specific rules for using commas along with easy ways to remember these rules.
