ACC Online Testing - Proctor U

ProctorU

Most ACC Distance Education courses, including online classes, require you to take at least one proctored exam. If your class utilizes fully online exams without a paper component, you may be able to have exams proctored off-campus using ProctorU. (ProctorU is not allowed for DLC courses.)

Examinee Pay

Charge the examinee

Any charges applicable to the examinee must be paid with a credit or debit card. The examinee will be required to enter payment information into a secure page connected to a third-party card processor. The page is encrypted and ProctorU does not see or store the credit card data. Examinees will have to re-enter payment information each time new charges are incurred.

Exam Length Flex Scheduling Take It Soon Take It Now

Optional Fees:

Flex Scheduling allows an examinee to make an appointment at least 72 hours before the desired start time. However, at an additional cost, an examinee may choose either the Take it Now or Take it Soon options with the additional charges (+$8.75 or + $5.00) to be paid at their own expense. Take it soon allows a test to be scheduled within 72 hours of the chosen start time; Take it Now allows a test to be taken on-demand with no appointment needed. These options are for the convenience of the examinee and are not required.

Any charges applicable to the examinee must be paid with a credit or debit card. The examinee will be required to enter payment information on a secure page connected to a third-party card processor. The page is encrypted and secure and ProctorU does not see or store any credit card data. Examinees will be required to re-enter payment information each time new charges are incurred.

Student Procedure for ProctorU

  • Contact your instructor to request the use of ProctorU. If your exams will be paper-based, ProctorU will be unable to administer your exams. For students with paper exams or online exams with a paper component, you may apply to the ACC Online program.
  • If the course’s exams are online and your instructor has approved using ProctorU, follow these steps:

Ensure that your computer meets the technical specifications required to utilize ProctorU. Log in to the ACC ProctorU portal page to create your user account. ProctorU user accounts must be created using your ACC email address. Outside email addresses (i.e., Gmail) are not acceptable.

Submit a ProctorU Testing Request Form, preferably at least one week before the course start date. If you need ProctorU for multiple classes, you must submit a separate form for each course.

Student Responsibilities for ProctorU

  • You are responsible for paying all fees required by ProctorU.
  • You are responsible for scheduling your exams through the ProctorU portal, and for keeping up with exam deadlines established in the course syllabus or by the instructor. Failure to meet deadlines because your ProctorU Testing Request Form was not submitted in a timely manner is not the responsibility of ACC, Distance Education, or the instructor.
  • All ProctorU exams must be taken in a private room with no one else present. Public environments are not acceptable.
  • A valid photo ID is required for testing (ACC ID cards and government-issued photo IDs are acceptable).
  • Failure to adhere to any of the Student Procedures or Student Responsibilities may be grounds for denial of future use of ProctorU services at ACC.

Processing Time

ProctorU requests are processed Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm CST. Incoming requests are normally processed within 2-3 business days after submission. Please be advised that high volumes of requests may delay processing, so earlier submission of ProctorU requests is recommended.

Submit ProctorU Testing Request Form

Before filling out the form make sure that you review the student procedures for ProctorU Testing and your student responsibilities listed above.

Access the ProctorU Testing Request Form.

NOTE

Austin Community College requires that you utilize only one proctoring source at a time. If you are enrolled in other ACC Distance Education classes that require a physical proctoring site, you cannot use ProctorU.

Due to Texas State Board of Public Accountancy rules, students wishing to take accounting exams outside the Austin Community College district must have them proctored at a college or university. Only ACCT 2301 and ACCT 2302 may be taken outside of a college or university setting using ProctorU and Distance Testing. Consult with your instructor to see if this is possible.
