VALUE STATEMENT:

ACC will place and advance faculty commensurate with teaching and/or with experience relevant to the mission of the college and the academic needs of programs.

ADMINISTRATIVE RULE:

Salaries for the academic year are set forth in the annual Faculty Salary Scale.

1. Placing faculty on the faculty salary scale is the responsibility of the Human Resources Compensation Office, subject to the final approval of the Executive Vice President.

2. Verification credentials or documentation must be on file in the Human Resources Department by October 1 of each year in order to receive placement credit.

3. Advancement may take place only at the beginning of each fiscal year. It shall be the responsibility of the faculty member to provide Human Resources with appropriate documentation of any change in status applicable under this Administrative Rule for placement purposes.

4. A maximum of 10 years teaching experience (or equivalent) may be used for initial placement. In evaluating teaching experience, one-year equivalency is given for an academic year or for a 12-month period, as appropriate.

5. In evaluating work experience, credit is given only for related, full-time salaried work experience of at least three months continuous duration. In evaluating previous library or counseling work experience of librarians or counselors, credit will be given for related full-time, salaried work experience of at least three months continuous duration and for half-time experience at Austin Community College of at least six months continuous duration.

6. Placement Criteria for Full-time Faculty

Level II	• 18 graduate hours in teaching field AND • a Master’s degree	• Bachelor’s degree with major in teaching field AND • Certification/ registration in field	• High school diploma or equivalent plus 9 years of work experience and 12 hours of vocational/ technical education OR • AAS degree plus 6 years of work experience OR • Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of work experience OR • Master’s degree
