The View From My Stool #3 print
... an illusory panorama ... , 11 " x 15 ", Serigraph on Magnani Pescia

about this image:

This print is actually one of a special edition (an alternate version) of a print created for a trade portfolio entitled Illusory Panorama. I, along with several other artists, was invited to create an edition around this theme. My ideas moved toward America's involvement with Iraq and the ever changing landscape of what we think we know and what we are told.

I was initially inspired by images of old Spiderman comic book covers I had been downloading. I started to notice a great number of covers where the "hero" is being beaten or subdued and liked the ideas a repetition of all these covers imply. This became the background in front of which floats a dust storm of verbage from our goverment's administration, transitory game targets made up of a rich fat cat symbol from a Thomas Nast illustration for greed and "shoot again" game symbols. In the immmediate foreground surrounded by this mass of visual noise is a 2D, gun range figure made of raw ground meat.
