8. Presidential Papers
There are many published and microfilmed papers of the presidents
of the United States in the UTCAT. The most convenient (though
very incomplete) set is James D. Richardson, comp. A Compilation
of the Messages and Papers of the Presidents. 20 vols. New
York: Bureau of National Literature, 1897-1917. PCL Stacks: 353.04
UN3R 1917
Also, for any president you are interested in, do an author search
by that president's name. There are published collections
of papers, writings, memoirs, speeches, proclamations, diaries,
etc. for many of the presidents.
In addition, the Manuscripts Division of the Library of Congress
has microfilmed all of their manuscript papers of the presidents
whose papers are represented in the division. (These collections
include all presidents having to do with History 1613 except the
two Adamses, Buchanan, and Lincoln.) All of these collections
of papers are in the Microforms Section of the PCL (Level 1).
Because the cataloguing of these papers is not consistent in the
UTCAT, call numbers and other information are given below.
