DESIGN 1 - SWT DEFRESE

SCALE and PROPORTION

Objective

Create 2 compositions which makes obvious (surprising) use of the the contrast and comparison of the scale and proportion of known objects.

#1 should be a collage of photos - use a photo one object of known small size in your collage but present it so that it seems absurdly large in comparison to another object ( or interior, landscape ?) of known proportions. Imagine a mosquito as big as a.house.
Example: Magritte's "The Listening Room" - the apple seems enormous and fills an
entire room. (See below)
"Personal Values" - ordinary objects fill a room with a wall of
clouds

#2 should be a collage of copied (xeroxed?) images in black and white which uses a photo of an object of known large size but presents it so that it seems absurdly small in comparison to objects usually perceived as being much smaller in the normal environment . Think of the Titanic in a fishbowl.

Format size: 8x10"

Materials

Glue stick xacto knife pencil
Color photos photo copies

Procedure

Search for suitable images and carefully cut them out . Use a glue stick to paste them to an 8 x 10" format. Use objects and environments which are familiar to every one - this will make the contrast of scale and proportion more obvious.
