Teaching, learning, and serving are my passion. As a doctoral student in the Community College Leadership Program, my research interest focuses on shared governance in community colleges. As a professor of Child Development, my teaching interests include:

  • Advocacy on behalf of children, their families; and child care teachers;
  • Play and fostering creativity in children;
  • Wellness;
  • Promoting inclusive and diverse classrooms (see Natural Allies);
  • Meeting the needs of children with disabilities or other special needs.
I provide grant oversight for the Child Development Department’s Teacher TRAC and Accreditation Project and manage our continuing education and contracted training program. As my service to the ACC community, I serve on the Administrative Services Council and the Round Rock Master Plan Steering Committee. I am on the 2007-2008 leadership team of the Faculty Senate as past president and chair of the Senate’s Policies and Procedures committee. Serving the greater Austin community is one of my key values. Currently I am on the board of directors for Family Connections, having previously served as the board chair. I also support United Way’s Success by Six through committee service. Other recent community board service includes Raising Austin and Camp Fire USA Balcones Council
