Unit 1 Objectives Cell Structure and Function

Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to:
  1. List and describe the function of each of the following organelles of a typical animal cell:

    cell membrane
    centriole
    golgi complex
    lysosome
    mitochondrion
    nucleolus
    nucleus
    peroxisome
    ribosome
    rough endoplasmic reticulum
    smooth endoplasmic reticulum
    vacuole
  2. Given a picture of a cell accurately label the structures within.
  3. Define the following terms:
    chromatid
    chromatin
    chromosomes
    histones
    kinetochore
