25th Annual Giving Tree Campaign aims to support 500 ACC students

Austin Community College (ACC) hosts its 25th annual Giving Tree campaign to support students and their families over the holiday season.

Faculty, staff, and the community are encouraged to visit the Giving Tree, located in the Student Affairs suite at all campuses, to pick up a gift tag. Each tag features the first name, age, and wish list for the child of an ACC student. Most gifts are under $25.

“It’s important we take the time to show our students we don’t just care about their grades, but about their families and their overall well-being,” says Steve Christopher, Student Accessibility & Social Support Resources associate vice president. “The process is anonymous. Sometimes all it takes is knowing someone cares to help push our students forward.”

Each year, the number of gifts has grown exponentially. More than 1,400 have been distributed over the past five years. This year, organizers hope to support at least 500 children. HEB or Walmart gift cards also are accepted.

Gifts should be purchased, wrapped, and delivered by Monday, December 2.
