2nd Annual Boots and Bats Gala raises more than $250,000

2019 Boots and Bats Gala

With more than 500 attendees, 100 volunteers, and 300 pieces of art, the second annual Boots and Bats Gala raised more than $250,000 to help improve students' lives.

Austin Community College hosted the Saturday, November 2, fundraising gala in partnership with Amado Pena's Art Has Heart Foundation. Every dollar raised will go directly to student scholarships.

Many attendees took home one-of-a-kind artwork from national, local, and student artists ranging from paintings and ceramics to jewelry and scarves, as well as boots painted by local celebrities.

A cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres was designed and prepared by ACC Culinary Arts students and entertainment was provided by the Sunset Valley Sentimental Family Band.

The event was co-chaired by Dr. Aileen Bumphus, associate vice president and clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin, and Texas State Senator Kirk Watson.

For those still interested in supporting student success, the silent auction will reopen from Monday, November 18, to Friday, December 13, to raise additional scholarship funds. View the auction items here.
