Austin American-Statesman presents ACC with 2020 Best of the Best Award

 Nursing Program First Place

The Austin American-Statesman (Statesman) presented Austin Community College District (ACC) with the 2020 Best of the Best Award during the Board of Trustees’ virtual meeting on Monday, January 11. This was the third consecutive year for the college’s Nursing Program to be recognized with the prestigious award.

“What an honor for us,” says Dr. Nan McRaven, ACC Board of Trustees chair. “We have a fantastic Nursing Program and are glad to be recognized for such. A lot of hard work goes into the program. This award is a testament to the talents and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students.”

Selected by popular online vote, ACC’s Nursing Program ranked No. 1 in Central Texas ahead of Texas State University and the University of Texas-Austin. The full report is available online

“This year was actually record-breaking voting with over 170,000 votes,” says Robert Poirier, Best of the Best Awards multi-media account executive. “We love to see the nursing program be recognized; especially during these times.”

ACC is the primary source for registered nurses in Central Texas. Students can start with an entry-level certificate to become a certified nurse aid and continue on to earn an advanced certificate in vocational nursing or associate degree in professional nursing to become a registered nurse (RN). The college also offers a pathway toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing through the RN-to-BSN program
