ACC’s Paralegal program receives approval from the American Bar Association

Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Paralegal program was awarded full approval from the American Bar Association.

“We are very proud of the work that went into obtaining this approval,” says Shawn Slack, ACC Paralegal department chair. “ABA approval benefits our paralegal graduates because legal industry employers instantly recognize and associate approval with quality legal education.”

ACC’s Paralegal program provides students comprehensive skills in legal research, drafting legal documents, and understanding procedural and substantive law that is required to become a paralegal in a law firm or the law department of a government agency or corporation.

Demands for paralegals or legal assistants are expected to increase almost 8 percent in Central Texas according to labor market information.

ACC’s program is offered on nights and weekends to fit flexible schedules. Courses are taught online and through classroom instruction by licensed, working attorneys. A two-year degree and an advanced technical certificate for those who have a bachelor’s or graduate-level degree are both available.
