Two ACC PTK Students Named 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholars

Out of more than two thousand applications nationwide, two Austin Community College District (ACC) Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) students were selected as 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholars. The students will be recognized internationally during PTK’s annual convention, PTK Catalyst, in Denver, Colorado, April 7-9.

Jennifer Ebert received the bronze scholar award for ACC Northridge Campus and Oliver Kipp was awarded the bronze scholar for ACC Rio Grande Campus. Both will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a commemorative medallion.

“I am honored to receive the title of 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholar. This award is hugely impactful on my ability to focus all of my efforts on pursuing my education as a non-traditional college student who has returned to school later in life. It is my dream that I will be able to use my education to help others and work to provide free or low-cost healthcare to persons who are socioeconomically disadvantaged in an effort to mitigate preventable illness and suffering within my community. The Academic Team Scholar award is both economically adventitious in that it allows me to continue to pursue my goals while keeping my workload low as well as motivating in that I feel seen and recognized for the work that I put in as it relates to academia,” says Kipp.

Jennifer Ebert, ACC’s PTK President, also previously received the 2021 Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarship.

Students are nominated for the academic team by their college administrators. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service.

“The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has a long history of providing financial assistance to outstanding students at community colleges,” said Jane Hale Hopkins, president of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa to make it possible for more deserving students to achieve their educational goals and support tomorrow’s leaders of the global community.”

Sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, the program is administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

ACC is part of the Alpha Gamma Pi chapter and provides activities to connect members with scholarship, service, and leadership development opportunities. Ninety-two percent of PTK members at ACC graduate, transfer, and continue on toward successful careers.
