ACC Celebrates Honors Week with series of events

Austin Community College District (ACC)  invites faculty, staff, students, and the community to a weeklong series of events for Honors week, Monday, October 24, through Friday, October 28, sponsored by ACC’s Honors Program. The college’s Honors Program is designed for high-achieving students looking for more advanced classes with exclusive learning opportunities in and out of the classroom.

Events include: 

A Legacy Beyond Bloodline | Tuesday, October 25 | 6:30 to 8 p.m. 

Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Campus Center | Highland Campus, Building 4000, Room 2205

The Honors Program joins the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Center for “A Legacy Beyond Bloodline''. The event features former NFL player and current UT and ACC faculty member Dr. Octavious Bishop. Dr. Bishop will discuss mentorship, leadership, race, and inclusivity. 

Virtual Honors Course Preview | Wednesday, October 26 | 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

ACC hosts a virtual honors preview course. Students will meet with professors and explore classes. Applications are now being accepted for the ACC Honors program for spring 2023. 

Ghostly Gala | Thursday, October 27 | 7 to 10 p.m.

Highland Campus, Building 2000, Room 1550

Honors Student Organization hosts the Ghostly Gala. Participants are invited to put on their Halloween costumes for a party with games and prizes. Refreshments will be provided.

The Honors Program provides smaller classes and emphasizes active learning and coursework involving research, creative expression, and community service. Students who complete the ACC Honors Program and meet all major transfer requirements have priority consideration for admission to specific four-year institutions.
