Larry Davis

Larry Davis serves as Vice Chancellor Belonging & Purpose for Austin Community College. Larry carefully connects with faculty, staff, administrators, and students in creating and managing the development and implementation of proactive initiatives to promote belonging, purpose, and engagement in support of the college’s strategic plan.

Larry collaborates with the college community to facilitate the enhancement of the learning and working environment where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed and play a significant role in developing plans and training programs to ensure belonging, purpose, and engagement in our programs, policies, and culture.

Larry has an Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Baylor University; and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University-Central Texas. In addition, he has participated in post-graduate study in Theology at Baylor University and has certification in Mediation, and as a Gallup Clifton Strengths coach.

Prior to his service at ACC, Larry was the inaugural Chief Diversity Officer at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, inaugural Director of Student Success, and provided leadership in Study Abroad and Disability Accommodation services.

Prior to that role, Larry worked at Texas State Technical College of Waco as Retention Coordinator and Disability Accommodations Specialist. He also taught in its College Success Course and Freshman Orientation Seminar. At TSTC and TAMUCT Larry co-developed with partner faculty and staff strengths-based educational and student services initiatives which significantly helped both institutions significantly increase student retention and graduation rates.

Other roles Larry has served in during his long career includes: minister, vocational rehabilitation counselor, youth counselor, youth employment program administrator, Boys & Girls Club Unit Director, and middle school student advocate. He continues to skillfully integrate blended belonging, targeted universalism, and purpose oriented strengths-based frameworks in postsecondary education and makes important contributions to knowledge in building capacity to achieve equity in enrollment, persistence, and completion.
