Joe (J.C.) Davila-Ybarra

I began my journey with ACC in 2009 while working towards my goal of getting an Associates of Arts in Social Work. What started simply as a work-study program slowly blossomed to a now 10-year career path. Sally Koch said it best when she stated, “Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” I have found this to be true here at ACC. Every day my role in Admissions brings me the great opportunity to guide students on their personal journeys in education. After serving as a Work-Study for 3-years I accepted a full-time position at the Riverside Campus and have also helped at the Eastview Campus. In 2016 I was given the honor of participating in the ACC Leadership Academy where I was given the guidance needed to develop. Fast forward to 2020, where I now stand before you, figuratively, but very much humbled by the great honor of being named Riverbat Employee of the Year. Every day I work with so many amazing people who equally deserve this title. It is such a heartwarming feeling to know that my contributions do not go unnoticed.

When I am not on the clock you can either find me relaxing at home with my Husband, of 5 years, and our 4 Fur-babies or off on some cross-country adventure. I also help my husband with his baking business and together we donate baked treats to Bake-A-Wish, a program that delivers cakes to children and elders.

In the midst of work and family I continue my educational endeavor. As a first generation college student my journey has been filled with ups and downs but as I continue to push through I can only hope that my journey inspires my younger brother to follow his dreams despite any obstacles he may face. With the support of my husband I am proud to say that with every passing semester my goal gets closer.

ACC thanks J.C. for his exemplary customer service in communication, collaboration, and responsiveness.
