Announcements -- Recognitions
NISOD Nominees -- Stacey Thompson, Patricia Dungan, Ann Palmer, and Vonnye Gardner
Brian Yansky is having a novel published next fall. (We are eagerly anticipating the release of his yet unnamed novel.)
Proposal a THECB to lower the cut-scores of the reading and math portion of the alternative tests is before the committee members. Letters and supporting documentation should be sent to the commissioner of THECB.
At the present time, there is no new legislation regarding TASP or Developmental Education.
CCE/CCA coordinators are the only persons authorized to add students into the Developmental Reading and Writing classess.
Developmental Reading and Writing are requesting two reading classes and two writing classes for the 12 week semester from the AVP's contingency pool.
NADE Update
The committee continue to work on their respective assignments. There is still a problem with entertainment and the Cultural Diversity session.
Volunteers may be needed to work the registration and information boooths.
Issue
The Assessment and Advising committee wants the Developmental Communications Department to write a statement for advisiors/counselors to handle developmental credits when students transfer to ACC. The state TASP rulers say it is u p to the institutions to decide. The Assessment and Advising Committee is asking for guidance from our group.
Caryn Newburger presented a draft statement for the Task Force to approve. The statement was approved and Caryn will take it to the Assessment and Advising Committee
Institutional Effectiveness Reports -- (postponed from last meeting)
Mary Leonard reviewed the 2001 -- 2002 report. It was noted that the statistics on page 1,3,8 and 9 are without "W." It appears that we are meeting out stated outcomes in Developmental Communication.
The next report is due in late April or May.

Adjunct Hiring by Frank Cronin
Adjunct hiring will review applications and interview any applicants that are qualified.
Assessment/Advising by Sibyl Noack/Caryn Newburger

Textbooks/Budget by Mary Leonard
All textbooks have been ordered for spring. Problems with textbooks should be referred to Hope or Mary.
The budget review process will begin after the tax election.
Other
Copies of syllabi should be sent to the Dean's office.
Dolores explained the adjunct hiring process. Asked adjunct faculty to refer to the administrative rules and the AFA regarding concerns over the process. If there are problems within our Task Force with staffing, problems should be referred to Dolores Segura.
All faculty need to review their preliminary roles and check to see that all students that are present are on the listed. If there are problems, send the students to Admissions and Records. Level changes should be referred to the CCE/CCA coordinators.
Dorothy Martinez states that the AFT supports the administration request for an election to increase the ACC tax base.
Next Developmental Communications Task Force Meeting is scheduled for March 21, 2003 at HBC.
