Information for Faculty

ACC commencement is the highlight of the academic year.

Faculty participation is encouraged as we endeavor to create a meaningful occasion for our graduates and their guests.

Bus Transportation to the commencement ceremony:

Join your colleagues and catch the shuttle bus service from either the Highland Business Center or South Austin Campus.

Buses start departing at 4 p.m. from both locations with the second bus leaving at 4:30 p.m. The Highland Business Center buses will make a second round of pick-ups starting at 5 p.m.

Buses will return passengers to the South Austin Campus and the Highland Business Center after the ceremony. Departures are staggered so individuals can stay and mingle or return to their pick-up points. Buses will run for one hour after the graduation ceremony ends.

For mobility-impaired passengers, vehicle drivers may drop off or pick up passengers at either the Red River Street entrance or the small surface lot #118, located on the north side of the Erwin Center. Access to this lot is on the southbound I-35 frontage road, just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Parking is available in garages and on the surrounding streets, at varying costs. The new UT Health Center Building garage is the closest walking access to the Erwin Center.  The Trinity Parking garage is also nearby and within walking distance.  A map of the area parking garages can be found here.

Full-time faculty and administration lead the procession and sit near the graduates on the arena floor during commencement. Academic regalia is worn by all who participate in the ceremony. Full-time faculty or administration who plan to participate should arrive by 5 p.m.

ACC hosts a reception immediately after the ceremony. Signs will direct participants to the reception location in the West Concourse.
