Honors Course: SPAN 1412 – Spanish II

This course is a second semester Spanish course designed for students interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field.  The goal of this course is to facilitate better communication between students as health care providers and the growing Spanish-speaking community in the United States.  Students will be encouraged to apply what they learn in the community by giving them opportunities for service learning in healthcare settings.  In addition to acquiring communication abilities in Spanish through learning grammar constructions, vocabulary, and culture, students will expand their ability to communicate with members of the Spanish-speaking community within healthcare settings through investigation of healthcare resources and participating in original scenarios particular to the healthcare field.  Students who took the Spanish 1411 – Spanish for Medical Professions course will deepen and expand their knowledge of medical terminology and phraseology that is used with the context of the medical fields.
