Welcome to Austin Community College’s instructional and assessment testing services.
Our mission is to provide assessment and testing services for ACC students and prospective students. To support this mission the Testing Center does the following:
The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state-required assessment test to determine college-readiness in reading, writing, and math. All first-time college students must take the TSI test before enrolling in classes unless you are exempt or complete. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with THECB guidance, Austin Community College (ACC) is able to consider alternate criteria for eligibility and placement of student readiness for college-level reading, writing, and mathematics courses and is offering the alternative criteria for placement of the TSI assessment requirements through the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years.
For incoming students who do not have TSI scores, there are two options:
1. TSI Assessment: Applicants may take the TSI Assessment (TSIA) online to determine their college-level placement in courses. Please click here to test from home.
2. College-Readiness Alternative: To assist in the application process, ACC will use applicants' high school transcripts as alternative criteria for college-level readiness in reading, writing and math for their first semester Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021 semesters. (Please Note: Under TAC Rule 4.55(a), Students must complete the TSIA before the end of their first semester to avoid being unable to register for the following semester.)
If you have not yet met TSI requirements and have questions about your options, contact us at email@example.com and an enrollment advisor will assist you.
Some ACC faculty require you take course exams at the Testing Center. Check your syllabus for testing policies. Instructors use the Testing Center to provide secure, self-paced testing outside the classroom.
Before you can register for some specific classes such as Human Anatomy or advanced math courses, you must complete an assessment.
Earn college credits outside the classroom if you can demonstrate sufficient background, education, and knowledge.
Austin Community College serves as a premier center for professional certification and licensing exams and other standardized testing.
Complete the GED exam in English or Spanish at ACC's GED testing locations.
