ESOL Assessment

ACC's ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Program requires an assessment to be eligible to take classes. The ESOL assessment includes a written exam, computer test and oral interview to measure your English reading, writing, listening, and speaking levels. In some cases, your results may indicate you do not need ESOL classes.

ESOL Assessment Steps

Step 1: Oral Interview Register for an oral interview appointment at Attend the appointment before you begin Step 2.

Step 2: Register for the ESOL Online Assessment (only after Step 1) Fill out the intake form. Once the Testing Center is ready to schedule your test, you will receive an email and a text message. In some cases, this may take up to 24 hours (1 business day).

Step 3: Pay (only after Step 2) Pay the $29 assessment fee online. Email a copy of your receipt to

Step 4: Take the ESOL Online Assessment An ACC Testing Center staff member will proctor the test, generally via a camera on your computer.

Step 5: Advising Appointment Register for an ESOL advising appointment at At the appointment, the assessor will explain your test scores, placement levels and how to register.
