What is online tutoring?
Stress Less for Success and pre-schedule an online session with a Tutor. This service allows ACC students to virtually meet with a Tutor for one-on-one assistance.

How do I request a tutoring session?
Please complete the online request form and click submit (Hyperlink to the online request form on webpage)

What email address should I use on the Online Request Form?
You must use your ACC email address.

How long do I have to wait to schedule a tutoring session after I submit the online request form?
Appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, please notify us as soon as possible.

How will the Tutor inform me of the date and time of my tutoring session?
Check your ACC student email for an invitation link to a scheduled tutoring session and accept/download the invite.

How long will the tutoring session last?
Our tutoring sessions are 30 minutes to 1 hour in length.

How do I request an interpreter for my tutoring session?
For an interpreter, you can contact interpservices@austincc.ed.

How much does it cost to receive tutoring?
Nothing! Online tutoring is completely FREE so take advantage of the various online resources offered.

Is there a limit to the number of tutoring sessions I can receive?
You can pre-schedule sessions with with ACC tutors for an unlimited number of times. Live instant tutoring is limited to 5 hours per semester

What can I expect from my tutoring session?
Tutors can help you understand the concepts needed to complete your assignments, but they will not do your work for you.

What do I need to do to prepare for my tutoring session?
Make sure you are in a location free from distraction so you and your tutor can have an uninterrupted and productive session. Also, in order for tutors to effectively assist you, it is important that you:

  • Attempt the problems independently before the tutoring session
  • Prepare several specific questions regarding the course material
  • Attend class
  • Review notes and required readings
  • Have your notes, textbook and attempted work readily available during the session
  • Determine what you want help with and what you want to accomplish with a tutor
  • Get support early to gain an understanding of the material before an assignment or exam is scheduled
  • Actively engage and participate in the tutoring session
