Admission Requirements for Transfer Students

Transfer Students

To be considered for admission to the University after attending another college, a student must be eligible for readmission to the college in which last enrolled and must have earned a minimum grade point average for all courses attempted as follows:

Transfer students must

1. File an application for admission. Application Fee: $25. Failure to list all institutions previously attended constitutes falsification of records and may result in enforced withdrawal from the University and loss of credit earned toward degree requirements at Sul Ross State University.

2. File an official transcript from each college in which previously enrolled and present proof of compliance with TSI, regardless of type of enrollment or intent to transfer credits. Transcripts must be sent directly to the Office of the Registrar at Sul Ross State University from the Registrar of the issuing institution. A student seeking admission after enrollment at another college, who presents fewer than 12 semester hours of transferable credit, must also submit a high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores. Students who qualify for admission will either be admitted fully or on probation, based on their grade point average.

3. A maximum of sixty hours may be transferred from an accredited two-year college. Courses taken at a two-year college cannot transfer as advanced hours. Grade points earned and hours attempted on all transferable work at another institution will be used in determining eligibility for admission, graduation, and meeting academic standards for continued enrollment. Semester credit hours earned in remedial courses at other institutions are not accepted for transfer. Semester credit hours earned with the grade of D in non-remedial courses at other institutions will transfer. However, a student may be required to repeat a similar course or courses at Sul Ross State University in order to satisfy degree requirements depending upon the major field of study and the overall grade point average of the student involved

SRSU is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HIS), located in far west Texas. Community of approximately 5,000 residents. Largest programs are Biology, Geology, Wildlife Management, and Criminal Justice. Division III NCAA, non-scholarship athletics. Rodeo team. Great for individual who like the outdoors. Mountains, State and national parks. Remote. No shopping malls, Wal-Mart, two hours or more to nearest large city.
