CLASS
REQUIREMENTS: Wear loose fitting clothing
which cover the knees. Uniform may be purchased, but not required. Remove
ALL jewelry, as it may endanger you or others, during class. Please wear
a minimum of make-up if any. Suggested Reading: The Spirit of Aikido,
by Kisshomaru Ueshiba.
CLASS
ACTIVITIES: Warm-ups, Aikido calisthenics, Aikido movements, Rolling,
Breathing, Meditation, History and Philosophy of Aikido.
COURSE
OBJECTIVES:
- Participate
fully and actively in class, i.e. engage in class discussions, coordinate
mind/body/spirit, and co-operatively practice with partner.
- Lose
the need to compete with practice partner
- Perform
six basic movements of Aikido
- Know
the name of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba.
- Know
when and where Aikido started, Japan, 1925, and the name of its modern
leader, Moriteru Ueshiba (the grandson of the founder).
- Know
the meaning of Aikido and its three guiding principles,
Masakatsu,
Agatsu, & Katsu Hiya hi.
- Use
ideas and concepts taught in Aikido class in your daily life
