CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Wear loose fitting clothing which cover the knees. Uniform may be purchased, but not required. Remove ALL jewelry, as it may endanger you or others, during class. Please wear a minimum of make-up if any. Suggested Reading: The Spirit of Aikido, by Kisshomaru Ueshiba.

CLASS ACTIVITIES: Warm-ups, Aikido calisthenics, Aikido movements, Rolling, Breathing, Meditation, History and Philosophy of Aikido.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

    1. Participate fully and actively in class, i.e. engage in class discussions, coordinate mind/body/spirit, and co-operatively practice with partner.
    2. Lose the need to compete with practice partner
    3. Perform six basic movements of Aikido
    4. Know the name of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba.
    5. Know when and where Aikido started, Japan, 1925, and the name of its modern leader, Moriteru Ueshiba (the grandson of the founder).
    6. Know the meaning of Aikido and its three guiding principles, Masakatsu, Agatsu, & Katsu Hiya hi.
    7. Use ideas and concepts taught in Aikido class in your daily life
