Weekly Class Schedule and Assignments (including Test deadlines):

MATD 0370 Elementary Algebra

This weekly schedule and schedule of tests is to help you pace yourself so that you may take your tests on time and complete the course during the semester.  You may work ahead of this schedule and finish early if you like (though remember that you must ask me at least a week in advance if you want to take a test early).  If you get behind, you must contact me.

Answers to odd-numbered homework problems and to all Chapter Reviews can be found if you click on "Videos and Textbook" and scroll to the bottom of the page, where it says "Selected Answers". Then click on the chapters you are working on.

Final Exam: August 7 - August 10 (Covers everything)

Notice the earlier deadline on this test. Due to the deadline for submitting final grades, you may not take this test late. (If you are taking your exam at the Fredericsksburg or San Marcos Center Testing Centers, you must take your Final Exam on the first possible day they are open during the exam period.)

If you really need a few more days to take the final, you may contact me in advance to request that I put the test in the Northridge Testing Center for you through the Friday of that week.
(I'm sorry, but this is not possible at any other Testing Center, due to logistics.)

8/15 Any work not actually in my hands by this date will not be accepted (no exceptions).

Important Information about Taking Tests in the Testing Center

You must take each test at your designated ACC testing center during the dates it is scheduled to be available. Visit http://www.austincc.edu/testctr/ for information about testing center locations, policies and procedures. Remember that:

  1. You will need to know the following information about your course.

Synonym number: Can be found here
    Course Number: MATD 0370
Test Number: Test #1 (will change with each test)
    Instructor Name: Marcus McGuff
    Instructor Home Campus: Northridge
  2. You will need to show a valid photo ID (driver’s license) AND a valid ACC ID. You must come in to an ACC campus in order to obtain an ACC ID card. This procedure has changed recently; go here for more information on that.
  3. You must use the testing center that you selected on your online orientation form. If you need to change that, send me an email message asking to do so (in advance).
  4. You need to bring pencils and eraser. Paper will be provided for you at the testing center. You will also need to bring a scientific calculator. Please remember that you must show all of your work. If you don't have room for this on the test paper itself, please show all work for the problem along with its answer on the scratch paper, clearly labeled with the problem number, and write a note on the test saying "See scratch paper".
  5. The test WILL NOT be graded in the Testing Center -- they will send the tests to me after the deadline and I will grade all of them at the same time. Those grades will usually be posted within a week after the deadline. You'll find those posted in the online gradebook on MyMathLab.

Important note about the final exam:

You will notice that the deadline for the final exam is kind of early compared to the other exams. This is because I have an absolute deadline when I have to turn in your final grades for the course and I have to allow time for the final exams to get to me from the Testing Centers. If you really need a few more days to take the final, you may contact me in advance to request that I put the test in the Northridge Testing Center for you for a few extra days. (I'm sorry, but this is not possible at any other Testing Center, due to logistics.)
