Fall registration opens for all students Monday, June 15

Registration for fall classes at Austin Community College District (ACC) begins Monday, June 15. Most fall courses will remain online.

“There are still a lot of unknowns about the Coronavirus, and ACC continues to monitor the situation daily with our local, state, and national partners, but our community needs us more now than ever before. The unemployment rate continues to climb. ACC is here to help,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “We are committed to providing affordable and accessible pathways for those looking to skill-up.”

The college recommends students register early, to ensure they get the classes they need. Summer enrollment is up overall by 7.5 percent, with new student enrollment up more than 11 percent as of Monday, June 15.

The college expects to slowly scale-up in-person classes with new health and safety protocols in place beginning July 6. Priority will be given first to high-demand courses that require some component of face-to-face instruction such as technical hands-on programs like welding, automotive, and nursing.

ACC continues to offer all students free access to the college’s full suite of student support services and student life activities. Unlimited 1-on-1 tutoring, advising, academic coaching, library services, and more are free to all students and remain accessible in virtual formats through summer and in fall.

“This is a difficult time for many, and Austin Community College is committed to providing assistance and guidance to keep students on track. This is when having 1-on-1 guidance and financial support really makes a difference. We want to make sure things like money and finances don’t get in the way,,” says Dr. Shasta Buchanan, ACC Student Affairs vice president. “There is a lot of uncertainty in our community and people don’t know what’s coming next. Our goal is to alleviate those obstacles and make college accessible to everyone.”

ACC offers the lowest tuition in Central Texas and provides additional financial support services to support those who have been financially impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Federal financial support through the ACC CARES Act Student Aid and college support through resources like scholarships and the Student Emergency Fund are available to help students cover tuition, fees, and other expenses.

Classes begin Monday, August 24.
