BIOL 2305/2102 Human Physiology - Prerequisite Information

A. course prerequisite

Successful completion (minimum grade of C) of Human Anatomy lecture and lab that includes all body systems and tissue histology. This can be in the form of any 4- or more hour college course with lecture and lab (or any combination of 3- or more hour lecture class and 1- or more hour lab class) specifically designated as human anatomy (high school courses are not equivalent) that covers all of the topics specified by the ACC Human Anatomy Common Course Objectives: http://www.austincc.edu/biology/ccos/biol-2304&2101cco.pdf

ACC BIOL 2304/2101 = UTA BID 416K AND UTA BID 416L (must have both components, as each covers only part of the body) OR UTA BIO 446L

416K (TCCN: BIOL 2401). Physiology and Functional Anatomy I. Designed for prenursing and allied health students. Not recommended for premedical and predental students. Cell biology and histology; biochemistry; nervous, endocrine, and musculoskeletal systems. Taught in an integrated lecture-laboratory format. Three lecture hours, three laboratory hours, and one discussion hour a week for one semester.

416L (TCCN: BIOL 2402). Physiology and Functional Anatomy II. Designed for prenursing and allied health students. Not recommended for premedical and predental students. Cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, digestive, immune, and reproductive systems. Taught in an integrated lecture-laboratory format. Three lecture hours, three laboratory hours, and one discussion hour a week
for one semester.

BIO 446L. Human Microscopic and Gross Anatomy.
Designed for students preparing for biomedical research and the health professions. Focuses on microscopic and gross anatomy of human tissues and organs, with an emphasis on structure function relationships. Subjects include the effects of disease and aging in addition to normal human anatomy. Three lecture hours and four laboratory hours a week for one semester. Biology 416K and 446L may not both be counted. Prerequisite: Biology 311C; Biology 325 or 325H with a grade of at least C-; Chemistry 301 with a grade of at least C-; and one of the following courses with a grade of at least C-: Mathematics 408C, 408K, 408N, 408R, Statistics and Scientific Computation 302.

B. assessment exam

Before you can register for ACC BIOL 2305/2102 Human Physiology you must pass an ACC Biology Department Assessment Test to demonstrate high-school level chemistry knowledge. For more information go to http://www.austincc.edu/biology/generalinformation.html

C. skill prerequisites
