7. Some Specific Topics Having to Do with the
First Half of United States History
Note: When doing subject searches in the UTCAT, there will probably
be both primary sources and secondary sources displayed. Once
the subject is displayed, look at the subheadings in the UTCAT
for that subject. You will probably want to examine the titles
under the subheadings correspondence, diaries, personal narratives,
and sources. There may be other subheadings you will be interested
in as well.
g. Women's Issues
There are many sources relating to this subject in the UTCAT.
Here is an example:
Stanton, Elizabeth Cady, Susan B. Anthony, and Matilda Joslyn
Gage, eds. History of Woman Suffrage. 6 vols. New York:
Source Book Press, 1970. (Originally published, 1881-1922. Poorly
edited but rich collection of speeches, resolutions, reminiscences,
letters, etc. Will yield information and attitudes on more aspects
of the women's movement than just the struggle to obtain the right
to vote.) PCL Stacks: 324.3 ST26H. (Another copy of this set is
in the Undergraduate Library with different publication data.
Call no. is JK 1896 H57 1985.)
