Step 1: Improve your critical thinking. Become a better critical thinker, consider your options (there are more than you think!!!), learn how to motivate someone else, learn how to motivate yourself, analyze situations with more information. This is a must, even before you know what a balance sheet is, or how to file a tax form. Critical thinking is the foundation you MUST build a business upon. Without it, you will likely paddle upstream with a toothpick.
