Get your start in a career that gives hope
The one-on-one interactions and varied work environments of nursing set it apart from most other healthcare professions. Austin Community College provides a path to your career as either a registered or vocational nurse. In our Associate Degree Nursing Program, students learn to provide complete patient care by addressing both physical symptoms and mental and emotional well-being. Upon completion, students are ready to take their RN licensing exam and enter the workforce directly, or continue toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Our vocational nursing program provides the classroom instruction and hands-on experience students need to take the vocational nurse licensure exam, performing duties such as assessing vital signs, administering medication, and implementing plans of care.
Few job fields can match the strong projected growth and continued job security of nursing. An aging population and advances in healthcare technology make your future as a registered or vocational nurse especially promising. At ACC students gain more than just technical understanding — they also develop the communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills that are necessary to succeed in this important field.
