Foreign Language

Foreign language puts the world at your fingertips

The study of language allows you to understand the world better, identify commonalities, and respect cultural differences. At Austin Community College, students can study eight languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. Foreign language majors typically follow the pathway through ACC, then transfer to a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year institution. In addition, students can apply their bilingual language skills in other occupations.

Career Information

Students who major in a specific language are well equipped to enter a variety of fields and to continue their education to the university and graduate-school level. The skills acquired as a language major are increasingly useful in our interdependent world, and some languages are currently in great demand.
