Mathematics

Master the methods that measure everything

The principles of mathematics serve as the basic — and sometimes not-so-basic — tools we use in almost every aspect of science. As a mathematical technician, you will help solve technological issues in engineering or science by applying standardized mathematical formulas and methodology. Austin Community College’s Mathematics Program provides a core foundation that allows you to pursue a career in mathematics, mathematics education, science, or engineering. The program will prepare you to transfer your degree or required core curriculum to a four-year institution.

Career Information

Advancements in technology mean that the salary and growth outlook for mathematical technicians should remain stable in the coming years. The highest levels of employment for these jobs are in state government entities, colleges or universities, and scientific research and development organizations.

A math major at ACC is a great first step toward a career in fields such as research, education, statistics, operations research analysis, engineering, finance, business, actuarial sciences, data science, or general science.
