Juniors and Seniors, you can start earning college credit before graduating from high school. Austin Community College enrolls eligible high school students through the Early College Start program, allowing them to take up to two college courses per semester while still in high school. Courses may be taken at any ACC campus, ACC center, online, or at your high school campus if available.
Effective, Summer 2012
Due to Senate Bill 419 All ACC KINE courses, with the exception of KINE 1304 & 1305 (Health) are not eligible for the ECS tuition and fees waiver. KINE courses will be assessed regular tuition and fees according to a student’s residency status.
Effective Spring 2012
ECS students who reside outside of the ACC tax district but within the ACC service area will be charged a per-course fee of $75 for courses taken at ACC campuses or by distance learning. This fee is waived if the ACC course is taken on a high school campus.
Meningitis Update (6/6/12)
Great News! ACC has reviewed its policies for complying with the state mandated bacterial meningitis vaccination, and as a result, all dual students at ACC will be exempt from submitting proof of the vaccination or state exemption while enrolled in high school.
The ECS office along with Admissions and Records manually ended all HRC holds on ECS students. This was a time intensive process, as we had to pull each individual account and remove the hold manually, until the programming can be created to automate this process. If you have an HRC hold that has not been ended and you have not graduated from high school, please contact the Early College Start office at (512) 223-7355.
