Community Engagement

Community Engagement, as part of the Office of Equity & Inclusion, creates and coordinates community outreach opportunities that increase awareness and support for the College's programs and services.  Partnerships are established and maintained with churches, schools, universities, school districts, and community organizations to increase enrollment, especially with under-served populations.


The Director of Community Engagement serves to liaison between ACC and Huston-Tillotson University (HT) by assisting ACC students who are interested in transferring to HT with information on scholarship and mentoring opportunities. There are three partnerships regarding opportunities for scholarships:

  • The Tom Joyner Foundation offers full tuition for seven semesters to students who are majoring in math or biology at ACC with a 3.0 GPA and plan to teach high school after completing their bachelor's degree at HT. This means students spend two years at ACC and then transfer to HT for the third and fourth year.  Online application
  • UNCF (United Negro College Fund) and the Peirels Foundation offer a scholarship to ACC students who have a 2.5 GPA and plan to go to HT full-time in order to get their bachelor's degree. These students must complete 30-40 college credit hours at ACC. Online application
