Mental Health Counseling

ACC does not provide crisis counseling and does not employ a crisis counseling team. If you or someone you know are in need of urgent or immediate assistance, please contact 512-472-HELP (4357), 911, or 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). If you or someone you know is considering harm to self (suicide) or to others please call 911 immediately.

Austin Community College is here to help you succeed by supporting your mental health! Attending college is fun and exciting, but at times it can be challenging to balance work, school, friends, and extracurricular activities. The Mental Health Counseling team offers services and programs across the district to help you build resilience, find balance, and help maintain safety, health and overall wellness.

Mental Health Counseling can help you:

  • Navigate through stress, depression, and anxiety
  • Cope with challenging situations
  • Create healthy habits for a balanced life
  • Develop tools and strategies for when you’re feeling overwhelmed
  • Improve your overall well being

Who Qualifies for Mental Health Counseling?

Any student who is actively enrolled in ACC classes for the current semester (including Continuing Education or Adult Education classes), is physically located in Texas, and is not already receiving therapy from an outside clinician is eligible to receive counseling.

Students under 18 years of age are required by Texas State Law (Texas Family Code Chapter 32.004) to obtain permission from a Parent, Legal Guardian or Managing Conservator to receive counseling services (exceptions apply in accordance with state law). Once you submit a request, the team will provide you with additional information.
