ACC Trustees approve expanded partnership with YMCA of Austin

The Austin Community College Board of Trustees approved an agreement to allow the YMCA of Austin to lease office space at the Highland Business Center for its administrative offices.

In late 2020, the college will consolidate much of its administrative offices and services to ACC Highland, Building 3000, freeing up approximately 10,000 square feet of office space at Highland Business Center.

Under the agreement, the YMCA will pay the college $20 annually per rentable square foot and will continue to extend child care services to the college and its students through the YMCA Child Watch program at ACC Highland.

Other academic benefits outlined in the agreement include:

  • Creating a pathway for employment in a variety of career fields through internships, hiring fairs, and other recruitment activities.
  • Opportunities for hands-on learning through paid internships in a variety of operational departments.
  • Opportunities for full-time ACC students, faculty, and staff to take advantage of a 20 percent discount off YMCA of Austin membership rates.

The proposed agreement includes an initial 10-year term plus one options 10-year renewal with an ongoing assessment of the agreement held annually.
