Transfer Planning Guide

This guide includes recommended steps to help you successfully transfer to a 4-year institution.

  • Confirm your major
  • Meet with your Area of Study or Faculty Advisor
  • Continue to use appropriate Area of Study Program Maps and university transfer guides to select ACC courses - make sure you have the most current version
  • Connect with universities:
      • Visit university campuses
      • Find out if ACC is organizing university tours
  • Attend university transfer visits days (ex. Bobcat Days, Aggieland Saturday)
  • Attend college transfer fairs
  • Meet with university representatives
  • Research intended transfer destinations
  • Pay special attention to application (and major) deadlines
      • Take note of transfer applicant requirements
  • Connect with university representatives and advisors at Transfer Academy sessions and other on-campus transfer workshops and events:

 The Application Process

  • Complete your ApplyTexas or university application and submit all required documents before the application deadline
  • Follow through with all post-acceptance instructions (orientation, advising, registration, etc)
  • Follow up on with the university to ensure your application is complete
  • Add school codes to financial aid for all universities in which you are applying
  • Complete university financial aid procedures early
  • Attend ACC financial aid exit loan counseling
  • Don’t forget to complete your ACC degree & apply for ACC graduation
  • Participate in Reverse Transfer by giving your university consent to release your transcript to ACC on the ApplyTexas admission application
