Transfer Planning Guide

This guide includes recommended steps to help you successfully transfer to a 4-year institution.

  • Confirm your major
  • Meet with your Area of Study or Faculty Advisor
  • Continue to use appropriate Area of Study Program Maps and university transfer guides to select ACC courses - make sure you have the most current version
  • Connect with universities:
      • Visit university campuses
      • Find out if ACC is organizing university tours
      • Attend university transfer visits days (ex. Bobcat Days, Aggieland Saturday)
      • Attend college transfer fairs
      • Schedule a meeting with a university representative
  • Research intended transfer destinations to find your right fit
  • Add application (and major) deadlines to your calendar
      • Take note of transfer applicant requirements
  • Attend ACC transfer workshops and events or schedule a one-on-one appointment with a Career & Transfer Specialist

 The Application Process

  • Complete your ApplyTexas or university application and submit all required documents before the application deadline
  • Follow through with all post-acceptance instructions (orientation, advising, registration, etc)
  • Follow up with the university to ensure your application is complete
  • Add all school codes for all universities in which you are applying on your financial aid application 
  • Complete university financial aid process early
  • Attend ACC financial aid exit loan counseling
  • Don’t forget to complete your ACC degree & apply for ACC graduation
  • Participate in Reverse Transfer by giving your university consent to release your transcript to ACC on the ApplyTexas admission application
