R.B. the ACC Riverbat

Who is R.B.?

Austin Community College District introduced R.B. and the Riverbats brand in 2010, and we’ve been a proud community of Riverbats ever since. The college is proud to serve Central Texas to help build a college-going culture and provide access to quality and affordable education for everyone.

Meet R.B. the Riverbat, Austin Community College’s official mascot. The Riverbat is a vibrant representation of the college and the many communities we serve across Central Texas.

It is our hope that through the Riverbat, every student, alum, friend, and supporter will cultivate a strengthened connection to ACC’s mission, values, and commitment to building a college-going culture.

Take a few minutes to learn about the Riverbat – ACC’s symbol of excellence, pride, determination, and spirit.

And don’t forget to say hello and take a photo the next time you see R.B. in the community.

About R.B.’s Name?

R.B. Bbhoggawact is the official name of the ACC Riverbat. Bbhoggawact is an acronym (minus the vowels) for the college’s eight-county service area – Bastrop, Blanco, Hays, Gillespie, Gonzales, Williamson, Caldwell, and Travis.

R.B. Bbhoggawact is quite a mouthful, so you can just say R.B. R.B.’s preferred pronouns are he/them/their.

Wait a Second. What’s a Riverbat?

A Riverbat is ACC’s very own kind of bat. The “River” component speaks to the many rivers that run throughout our region, and bats are synonymous with Central Texas. They’re intelligent and resourceful; bats also provide important services to the community and have the ability to soar high, just like our students and graduates.
