This collaboration between the City, Workforce Solutions Capital Area, ACC, and other training providers will prepare the region’s workforce for essential, high-demand careers in public infrastructure.
What is the Infrastructure Academy at ACC?
The Infrastructure Academy at ACC provides training for jobs in the mobility + infrastructure sector in Central Texas. The Austin area is slated for an estimated $25 billion in capital improvement projects in the years ahead. At ACC, you will get hands-on training for careers in construction, skilled trades, fleet maintenance and repair, frontline mobility and operations, and supervision.
Building a Mobility + Infrastructure Workforce
Mobility and infrastructure are the region’s second-largest industry sectors, and more growth is predicted. These massive projects include the light rail expansion, I-35 expansion, airport expansion, and convention center redevelopment. That’s why it’s essential to build a skilled workforce that can meet the region’s growth needs. Together with Workforce Solutions, ACC has created programs that will meet this demand now and in the years to come.

Free Mobility and Infrastructure Construction Core Training
Start your training with classes designed specifically by Austin-area employers to provide an entry point into a construction and infrastructure job. Prepare for an apprenticeship, entry level employment, or continue with your education. Earn an OSHA 10 certification, CPR and First Aid certification, Multi-Craft Core Curriculum Certificate, and an Occupational Skills Award in just 8 weeks at no cost.

Where is the Infrastructure Academy at ACC?
Initially, most of the classes will be held at Riverside Campus for training students immediately in welding, construction, heavy-machinery operation, electric fleet maintenance, and HVAC. However, academy classes are also offered at our Round Rock, Northridge, and other campuses throughout the ACC District. ACC will create a permanent home base for the Academy at ACC’s land in Southeast Travis County.
How do I sign up for the Academy?
Students who want to sign up for the Infrastructure Academy must speak with the program coordinator before applying for ACC and signing up for classes. Current and former ACC students: you should also contact the academy program coordinator for specific Infrastructure Academy requirements.

Can I get financial aid?
Students in the academy may be eligible for funding from Workforce Solutions. Depending on the program and classes, you may also be eligible for financial aid and scholarships. Contact the program coordinator for specific information about your financial aid eligibility.
